"College admissions isn't about creating the 'perfect' applicant—it's about helping students discover who they are, identify environments where they will thrive, and present an authentic application that reflects their strengths, values, and aspirations."

Meet Satinder Jamal

Founder, Ascensor Educational Consultants

For more than a decade, I've had the privilege of helping students discover their strengths, pursue ambitious goals, and find colleges where they can truly thrive. Whether working with first-generation college students, high-achieving applicants, or families navigating the admissions process for the first time, my passion has remained the same: helping students recognize opportunities they may never have imagined for themselves.

My career has been shaped by two complementary fields: education and technology. I began as a high school counselor in the San Francisco Bay Area, where I guided students and families through every stage of the college admissions process. Later, I transitioned into the technology industry, where I developed strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills before returning to my passion for education by founding Ascensor Educational Consultants.

I found Ascensor Educational Consultants because I wanted to provide the kind of personalized guidance, dedicated time, and individualized support that many students deserve but schools often don't have the capacity to offer. By building meaningful relationships with students and families, I help them identify colleges and career pathways that align with their strengths, values, and long-term goals—not simply where they can gain admission, but where they will truly flourish.

My own educational journey reflects my belief in lifelong learning. I earned a bachelor's degree in English from the University of California, Berkeley, followed by a master's degree in Education from San José State University. Years later, I challenged myself to pursue an entirely different field, earning a second bachelor's degree in Computer Science, along with a minor in Mathematics, and later a master's degree in Cybersecurity from MSU Denver. This experience reinforced my conviction that learning is a lifelong pursuit and that growth often begins by embracing new challenges.

Today, my experience in both education and technology allows me to bring a unique perspective to college advising. I combine empathy with strategic planning, analytical thinking, and attention to detail to help families navigate today's increasingly competitive and complex admissions landscape.

At the heart of my work is a simple belief: every student has a unique story worth telling. College admissions isn't about creating the "perfect" applicant—it's about helping students discover who they are, identify environments where they will thrive, and present an authentic application that reflects their strengths, values, and aspirations.

I know the college admissions process can feel overwhelming—for both students and parents. My role is to provide thoughtful guidance, honest advice, and steady support so families can move through the process with clarity and confidence.

It is a privilege to walk alongside students during one of the most important transitions of their lives. I look forward to helping your family navigate the college admissions journey with confidence, clarity, and excitement for what lies ahead.

Staying Current
College admissions is an ever-evolving field, with policies, requirements, and institutional priorities changing regularly. To ensure I provide students and families with the most accurate and up-to-date guidance, I am an Associate member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA) (www.iecaonline.com) and a member of the College Consultants of Colorado (https://www.collegeconsultantsofcolorado.com).

My membership in these professional organizations allows me to collaborate with fellow independent educational consultants, exchange best practices, and stay informed about emerging trends in college admissions. Over the past year alone, I have completed more than 60 hours of professional development, deepening my knowledge of the ever-changing admissions landscape.

I also attend college fairs, conduct campus visits, and meet with admissions representatives to gain firsthand insight into colleges and universities across the United States and internationally. During these visits, I interview students and faculty to better understand each institution's academic offerings, campus culture, and overall student experience.

In addition to professional development and campus visits, I regularly read publications and research from leading experts in college admissions and higher education. Drawing from a wide range of perspectives helps me stay informed about evolving admissions practices and emerging trends, enabling me to provide thoughtful, well-informed guidance tailored to each student's unique goals and aspirations.
